Congratulations to everyone
as we celebrate our 20th year of musical activity and service in
January of 2008. Reflecting on our program’s accomplishments and
challenges will both strengthen and motivate us to continue our vital
mission of touching many more children’s lives with the beauty, joy,
and power that music alone can give.
First and foremost, a huge THANK YOU goes out to our wonderful docents
who have provided year after year of musical enrichment for children
who would otherwise not have it in our schools. Their dedication,
enthusiasm, creativity, and tireless volunteer efforts to do their
best for children is commendable and much appreciated. They have made
a tremendous difference in the lives of children who have blossomed
under their leadership in the classroom and while performing in our
MFMII Showcases. MFMII looks forward to recruiting many more community
volunteers to become music docents. We have greatly appreciated the
partnership established with Ohlone College in the annual fall
training class, which attracts parents, college students, seniors,
retired teachers, musicians, and other community members.
Hats off to our Board of Directors
over the years who have promoted the program, raised funds, and
offered the necessary vision for success and growth.
We thank our many donors as well who have believed in Music for
Minors II and awarded us the funding which contributed to our program
development, music workshops and community concert series. Thanks also
to two of MFMII’s greatest friends, Charlotte Diamond and Red
Grammer, wonderful children’s recording artists who are dedicated to
bringing out the best in all of us in order to make this a better
world. Their concerts that we have sponsored over the years have
impacted all ages and provided the unifying and unique enjoyment of
hundreds of people making music together.
Since
its inception, MFMII has depended on the community for its support and
we look forward to many more years of successfully enriching
children’s lives.
Our Board of Directors
Volunteers nurturing a love of music.
A nine-member volunteer board
of directors meets monthly, sets policy and oversees and supports the
Music for Minors II enrichment program with the assistance of
part-time staff under the direction of an Executive Director:
Docent Training Coordinator, Docent Manager, and Administrative
Assistant. Each school that has the MFMII program selects a
liaison as their contact person who promotes communication between
MFMII and the schools and the expansion of the program at their sites.
